JDD Showroom Opening Feature

Made to Measure

Jim Davis Designs marks a decade in business with a luminous new Midtown showroom that captures its founder’s exacting dedication to his craft.

After growing up in his mother’s South Georgia workroom, Atlanta designer Jim Davis-Johnson has spent nearly three decades refining the art of custom window treatments. Founded in 2015, his namesake Jim Davis Designs recently celebrated its 10th anniversary. They marked the occasion with a move to Midtown (which Jim has called home for more than two decades) and an e-commerce launch— cementing the company’s reputation as a trusted trade partner for luxury homes from Atlanta to Antigua. Reputed for its mastery of windows (plus other finishing details that complete well-appointed rooms), Jim reveals how his team prioritizes beauty and precision with every project. jimdavisdesigns.com.

What sets the new Midtown showroom apart? We relocated in April, but really took time to refine every detail.

The space is bright and open, with incredible natural light. Our 26-foot memo wall showcases textiles from Kravet, Fabricut, Schumacher, Scalamandré, Romo and others arranged in every color of the rainbow. The studio is designed for the way we work—from initial consultations to final fabric selections. We welcome clients to bring their own materials, but most choose from our curated library, which we assembled to inspire creativity and confidence in every decision.

Why are window treatments such a defining element of a room? Window treatments are not decoration; they’re design. They’re one of the most transformative elements within a home, shaping light and proportion while adding warmth and texture that no other layer can achieve.

How do you collaborate with members of the trade? We serve as a trusted production partner— handling fabrication, installation and detailing to designers’ exact specifications. Our entire team, including my husband and installation specialist, Rickey Davis-Johnson, shares this commitment to excellence. We guide every client through our custom process—whether the goal is a swift turnaround or something painstakingly tailored. We built our reputation on accuracy, craftsmanship and the relentless pursuit of perfection.

What are Atlantans asking for right now? Drapery, Roman shades and roller shades are topping the list. Drapery softens architecture and feels timeless. Romans deliver tailored structure. And rollers give a clean, modern finish—especially in contemporary spaces.

Give us a hint of what 2026 will bring. I’m seeing continued momentum around motorization, eco-conscious textiles and layered applications that mix sheers with blackout linings. Clients want spaces that feel intentional and adaptable without sacrificing aesthetics, and that’s precisely where we thrive.
