We had the good fortune of connecting with Jim Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jim, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I was seven years old, my mom started a window treatment company. I grew up in this world of interior design. My mom never quit working from 5 am to 2 am every day; she would encourage me to do the same thing as her because I had a passion for it. I always said I would never do this when I grew up because I didn’t want to work like her. I left the industry and started managing high end restaurants in the Atlanta area after finishing business school. I was about to accept a job offer in Chicago when my mom asked me one more time to start the company. It was the scariest thing I had ever done but I hit the ground running and haven’t looked back.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Growing up in this industry, I have it in my blood. I also have an eye for design which has helped me build the brand to what it is today. There are a lot of mom and pop companies, online resources, and big box stores that sell window treatments. We operate at a different standard than anyone else in our market. Servicing North Georgia on a daily basis as well as working out of state in Florida, Tennessee, Carolinas, Virginia, and Alabama has allowed up the opportunity to perfect our craft. We do things from a design perspective vs just taking an order. When clients call us, they know we are going to specify the perfect option for them based on their design aesthetic and budget. Every project gets my personal seal of approval or I dont do it! We have really thrived in our marked by working directly with designers to take off the stress of window treatments from their plate. We work with over 60 designers and directly to the consumer as well. Handling everything from the measure, design, fabrication, and installation we offer pleasant selections of sophisticated window treatments.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have lived on or near Piedmont park since 2005; so its safe to say I am a Midtown Mary. When out of town guest come to see me, I now start at Colony Square first. I have to take them to the park and the Beltline is a must. Having been in the food scene for a while in Atlanta, I love to eat out so narrowing down a favorite restaurant would depend on what I haven’t already eaten that week! A few of my favorite restaurants would be The Consulate, The Lawrence, Ecco, Le Fat, Rumis or Pancake Social for brunch!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As a child, I grew up watching my mom hustle everyday from before I opened my eyes to after I closed them. We are all given the same 24 hours in every day and my mother taught me how to make the most of those hours. Since starting my company I have had the privilege of working with some amazing clients that motivate me every day like my mom did but the one person that inspires me daily today is my husband. Rickey and I have been together since 2008 and he pushes me to be the best and most authentic version of myself each and every day. We all struggle every day in different ways but he has been there for me with his hand out every time I fall. Nothing I have ever done in life has quite worked out as I planned but what has happened instead has always been for the best; its all about learning from your failures and realizing the reason why it went the way it did.
