Jim Davis Designs Featured in Modern Luxury
Jim Davis-Johnson, principal designer and aesthetic artist of Jim Davis Designs (JDD), is a pillar of knowledge in the world of interior design. In 2015, he founded JDD, realizing his passion for interiors was meant for a larger stage. “When my very first client was the chief executive officer of a major national architectural firm, I knew I was meant to do bigger things,” Davis says.
His Southern roots, combined with Atlanta’s vast opportunities, inspired him to create a platform offering high-end, personalized service for designers and homeowners. Today, Jim Davis Designs caters to clients nationwide, with its first international project set for 2025.
Davis’s work is driven by a love for blending new and old elements in spaces that tell a story. “I take inspiration from everywhere we go and incorporate them into our clients’ spaces,” he says, often drawing from his travels with his husband, Rickey Davis-Johnson.
A natural leader, Davis has honed his management skills from a young age. “Every part of my journey, the good, the bad and the ugly, have been steps to get to where I am today,” he shares. This Modern Man approaches community service with a heart full of empathy and an unwavering belief in unity. “We all bleed red,” he says. For Davis, the responsibility to give back is not just a moral obligation but a part of his life’s purpose, especially when it comes to supporting the unhoused.
Davis and his team have provided meals for those in need for nearly a decade. This has evolved to his husband, Rickey, preparing food for 300 to 400 people monthly in their home kitchen, and together, they deliver these meals to parks and bridges around downtown Atlanta. As they arrive at each location, familiar faces and bright smiles greet them, a testament to their lasting impact. While Davis humbly describes the effort as a small gesture, it’s clear that the joy and light they bring to others is immeasurable.
Looking ahead, Davis is preparing to open a new showroom in Midtown Atlanta and launch a quick ship program and private label for drapery and shades, marking the next chapter for Jim Davis Designs.
