Window treatments for your living room

The living room is where we gather, where we watch television, where we have discussions and host get-togethers.  It’s called a “living room” for a reason; we do most of our “living” in that specific room of the house. It's the room that commands the most attention and can really make a statement about your home. In the following few paragraphs, I'll show you some incredible ideas to make your living room the most enjoyable room in the house, or even the neighborhood.

The different styles and options of window treatments in your living room really depends on the type of windows you have and the type of style you're looking for. If you have an eclectic style, mixing solid colors of drapery against textured or patterned walls may be an option for you. Consider a solid black curtain against a vintage distressed wallpaper or a bright and bold colored drapery offset by a faux-painted wall.

If you prefer an area to relax and wind down, semi-sheer curtains will allow enough light to showcase the radiance of your space. In contrast, these curtains also promote tranquility and comfortability within your home. These can also be layered with solid curtains to offset the sheer sections to allow for dimming when wanted. An ombre pattern can also be used to tie in the colors and patterns within the room itself.

If you’re looking for a low-maintenance window treatment option, cotton-poly blended drapery offers a variety of colors and designs. Cotton is an excellent option for easy cleaning and requires minimal care. These curtains also align well with any space and can be practical or eye-catching depending on how they are displayed.

If the space requiring window treatments includes multiple windows, consider ceiling-to-floor windows to elongate the walls and enlarge the room. Velvet curtains, long shutters or Roman shades can all be utilized to accomplish this task. Additionally, these treatments can pull together artwork, furniture, color scheme, etc. to reflect the focal point of the room.
